Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; Electric-Powered Vehicles; Electrolyte Spillage and Electrical Shock ProtectionAGENCY: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).ACTION: Final rule; response to petitions for reconsideration and technical corrections.SUMMARY: This document denies a petition for reconsideration of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 305, "Electric-powered vehicles; electrolyte spillage, and electrical shock protection" from Nissan Motor Company (Nissan) requesting the use of a megohmmeter as an alternative measurement method for the electrical isolation test procedure. Further, this document adopts various technical corrections and clarifications to the regulatory text of FMVSS No. 305 that do not change the substance of the rule.DATES: The effective date of this final rule is 16 January 2015.
