The notified draft seeks to establish a MERCOSUR Technical Regulation on hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles, to be applied to locally manufactured or imported vehicles circulating in MERCOSUR member States, with a view to ensuring the safety of their compressed hydrogen storage systems and the specific components of these systems, and to improve road safety. The draft builds on UNECE Regulation No. 134 - Uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles and their components with regard to the safety-related performance of hydrogen-fuelled vehicles, annexed to the 1958 WP.29 Agreement.
