Proposal for amendment to legal inspection requirements for 5 types of secondary lithium cells and batteries

The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) proposes that 5 types of secondary lithium cells and batteries shall be subject to border control by amending their corresponding Commodity Classification Code (C.C.C. Code). This measure intends to respond to the high rates of non-compliance for secondary lithium cells and batteries in order to protect consumers from potential fire hazards.The conformity assessment procedure for such products will be under the Registration of Product Certification (RPC) Scheme or Type-Approved Batch Inspection (TABI) Scheme.
